Ali Ochoa is a Venezuelan composer recognized for his work in cinematic, electronic, and classical music. His versatile catalog spans synthesizers, electric guitars, pop music and South American rhythms.
His passion for music and film led to a collaboration with award-winning Venezuelan director Andreina Isea on the feature film Maru Style. This marked the beginning of ongoing collaborations with directors in the United States and Spain. Since then, he has composed original scores for ¿Dónde está Memo? (feature film), Desmotivaciones Domésticas (short film), Un Gran Pase (short film), and the documentaries Nifu-Nifa: El legado robado, El brazo que mueve el juego, and Yasmil Marrufo: El maestro de la canción — three projects that have collectively won three Emmy Awards.
At 29, Ochoa moved to New York to earn a Master’s Degree in Studio Composition from Purchase College (2016–2018), where he studied with Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Du Yun, avant-garde composer Jakub Ciupinski, Grammy-winning producer Peter Denenberg, Emmy-winning composer Allyson Bellink, and multi-award-winning composer Darren Salomon.
Ochoa won the American Protégé 2019 competition, resulting in a piano soloist performance at Carnegie Hall in 2022. His music is currently used worldwide across major streaming platforms, television series, and films, including TQM (Amazon Prime), Temptation Island (Netflix), Road to a Million / 007 franchise (Amazon Prime), Ballard (Amazon Prime), among many others.
Additional professional highlights include continuing to produce albums for artists worldwide, composing main themes for movies and TV commercials, releasing several solo albums, receiving a Grammy nomination in 2026, and teaching producers, artists, and composers how to place their music in TV and film.Â
